If you have ever wanted to add elements of shimmer and shine to a business card, it's time to stop using a classic option and switch it up to a metallic foil business card.

These come in two sizes: a standard business card size of 85mm x 55mm or a square 55mm x 55mm

We know that this takes business card design to a new level so we have created files in both Photoshop and Illustrator to help in the creation of print-ready artwork.  Download the files, use them and save them for your next order; you can find them in the Templates section just below.

If all this fabulous shimmer is too much for this time around, have a look at these other cards.  We would recommend having a look at the pearl finish cards in particular as they offer some shimmer but in a more subtle way: Pearlescent Business Cards | Plastic Business Cards | Magnetic Business Cards | Foiled Business Cards | Triple Layer Business Cards | Spot UV Business Cards | Textured Business Cards

Metallic Foiled Business Cards Shine Bright

Customise our metallic foil business cards to the exact design you or your client wants.  Go full glam with a lot of foil or add smaller elements (not too small though - check the technical specifications tab for all the information about specifics you need to know about designing foiled business cards) We have you covered on five colourways that incorporate classic gold and bang-on-trend copper.

These foiled prints may look expensive but they are surprisingly affordable, they are the sort of card that people comment on and like to touch.  If ASMR were in business card format we'd have to say that metallic foil (or spot UV) would be the front runners.

How we print foiled elements onto business cards:

We print on to a 350gsm Recycled Silk Finish, a 350gsm uncoated paper or a heavier weight 400gsm silk. The digital foil is then applied on top of a tactile matt soft-touch laminate. The foil lays flat on top of the laminate so that it shimmers and catches the light. Foil is only available on one side.

We have several options for these custom-foiled cards:

  • Rectangle or square
  • Rounded corners
  • Matt soft-touch lamination on one or both sides
  • 3 paper stocks
  • 5 foil colours

Top tip: Choose uncoated paper with a single-sided lamination for a card that can be handwritten on the reverse.

Top TOP tip: makes sure your lines and fonts aren't too thin - in our experience, anything smaller than 10 points for a font or 2 points for lines is too small.  So make sure you're generous enough with those elements to make the foil really pop.

UK shipping is free, exceptions apply.

Technical Specification for foil printing

For double-sided foil business cards please supply your artwork as a 4-page PDF. Page 1 is the front of the artwork, page 2 is the back of the artwork, page 3 is the Foil artwork for the front and page 4 is blank. The Foil artwork should contain solid black shapes in the exact position where the Foil is required.

If you are printing a one-sided document, then a 2-page PDF is required where page 1 is the design and page 2 is the Foil artwork. Please ensure Foil artwork is 100% black only and does not contain any cyan, magenta or yellow.

Please note: Foil application has registration tolerances of approximately ±3 mm. It is not therefore recommended that small text (10pt minimum) or thin lines (2pt minimum) are used for foiling elements. For this reason, we advise against representing any thin graphics within your CMYK artwork. Slight misalignment of the foil could result in lines or 'shadows' of this foil representation being visible on your final product.

  • Include 3mm bleed on all sides
  • Supply as a CMYK PDF, preferably in PDF/x1a format
  • Outline or embed fonts
  • 300dpi resolution
  • We recommend that any foil is at least 3mm from the trim edge to achieve the best results.
  • Vector foil graphics will produce better results than bitmaps. Bitmap foil graphics should be supplied in 300 dpi for best-quality results.
  • The minimum font size is 10pt and line weights should be at least 2pt.
  • Serif fonts are advised against as the serifs may contain elements that are not 2pt in thickness.
  • Due to the 3mm margin for movement on foiling, we would not recommend submitting artwork which relies on the alignment between printed and foiled elements
