Costing Analyst

As Costing Analyst, you will report to the Finance Director and play a key role in the finance team supporting leaders in Operations, Product and Production by, providing clear cost reporting and management.  This varied and well-rounded role will involve a blend of accounting, costing and finance business partnering, offering a diverse and rewarding opportunity for a confident and experienced candidate.

This role would suit an accountant with a proven track record in a production environment or similar industry who as the ability to engage proactively and influence stakeholders at all levels and is gifted at communicating financial information to a wide audience, with passion and enthusiasm.  

Although an accountancy qualification may be useful, someone qualified by experience would succeed in this role and we could offer study support for candidates who were keen to pursue a professional qualification.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Act as owner of our costing tools, ensure that product costs are up to date for all products and work with configuration team to ensure costing tools in varying systems are consistent
• Develop an understanding of the process of manufacturing finished goods, including machine timings
• Partner with procurement to update costings in models with fluctuations in raw material
• Develop accurate data and utilise the MIS system to gain better insights,
• Work with finance to verify costings are in line with general ledger for overheads, labour, materials
• Adjusting costing models as necessary based on findings for utilisation and absorption.
• Analysis for comparison of costings between Tradeprint and other Cimpress businesses flagging where Tradeprint is more cost effective and could benefit from uplifted volume
• Ensuring costs are entered and pulled through accurately on relevant intercompany reports
• Verification that costs being charged are in line with expectations and working with finance colleagues to process charges
• Assist with calculators for 3rd Party Fulfiller businesses to ensure we outsource where beneficial
• Deep analysis of the outsourced gross margin to identify improvements or concerns and feedback suggested amendments
• Support competitor analysis identify areas where our prices are misaligned with the market and recommending adjustments
• Input into budget, business planning and forecasting cycles
• Supporting company wide cost projects

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in a similar role and have:

• Experience of ecommerce, manufacturing, retail or a similar industry
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with various teams.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations
