Folders are oversized to accommodate the chosen paper size. For example, an A5 folder is slightly larger than A5 size to fit A5 paper with room to spare. Please use our supplied artwork templates to ensure the size and shape for your artwork files.
When submitting artwork, please send us two files: one with the artwork template visible and overlaid on your artwork, and another with the template removed, displaying only your artwork.
We use the first document to check your files are accurate, and we will proof and print the second document.
For a single sided folder, a 2 page PDF is needed – page 1 for CMYK print, page 2 for spot UV in 100% K, plus a second PDF with the template to check for position. For a double sided folder, a 4 page PDF is needed – front CMYK, back cmyk, spot uv, blank – plus a second PDF with the template for both sides.
For Spot UV Folders please submit two files, one with the artwork template visible and overlaid on your artwork, and another with the template removed, displaying only your artwork. The Spot UV can be applied to the outer cover only.
Your guide file should show the CMYK artwork and the Spot UV artwork (in 100% K) along with the folder template.
Please note that Spot UV is only available on the outside of the folder front or back.
Single-Sided
Print front, Spot UV front
Double-Sided
Print front, Print back, Spot UV front, blank page
It is recommended you do not place words, page numbers or images too close to the edges of each page. We would recommend a safe zone on all sides of at least 3mm for Spot UV folders.
• Include 3mm bleed on all sides
• Supply as a CMYK PDF
• Outline or embed fonts
• 300dpi resolution
The Spot UV artwork should contain solid black shapes in the exact position where the Spot UV is required. Please ensure Spot UV artwork is 100% black only and does not contain any cyan, magenta or yellow and is supplied as vector (rather than a bitmap) to ensure the best result.
Please note: Spot UV is applied using a process similar to screen printing and has registration tolerances of approximately ±0.5 mm. It is not therefore recommended that small text or thin lines are Spot UV'd as perfect register cannot be guaranteed.
